While it may be funny, it does leave a bitter taste.

It also leaves some rather sobering economic questions that Salmond et al don't want to address instead hiding behind over the top indignation.... That's more the point. A decision to break this amazing union apart comes down to 500 quid and a magazine cover!!!

Why? Is the economist banned from scotland now? Or is the scotish first minister forbidden from speaking his mind?
Afaik "free speech" means that both sides are allowed to voice their opinion. I cant find any fault with regards to free speech here...

Scaremongering
Anti-Scottish
Seem to be the standard response to any criticism of independence. Establishing a new country is a huge and expensive endeavour and the valid points raised over independence should be addressed. A serious idea like this needs serious discussions. Not "scaremongering" which is a completely useless response.

Is any of that for the Scots to discuss, and decide, or not? What's the ideal role for the English in such a process?
