David Hockney hits out at 'arrogant' Government

Inspired by his native Yorkshire, his sell-out A Bigger Picture exhibition at the Royal Academy brought to life the vibrant countryside the UK has to offer.

But it would appear that reality is much less rosy for the 74-year-old, who has railed against Britain’s “constant negativity”.

Whilst I agree with him about the 'constant negativity' ... I have to say that Hockney is a very strange individual indeed. Every time I've seen him interviewed or heard what he had to say it's been apparent that he is tapping his toe to a slightly different tune to the rest of us.

This was reinforced when i watched a documentary programme about him a while back - about his life up in Yorkshire with his young partner ... which only served to confirm that he is eccentric, curmudgeonly and a bit of a misanthrope - not to mention a stroppy b*gger at the best of times.

What he seems to be moaning about (primarily) in that piece he's written is about the tax and packaging on fags (ciggies to our American friends) - from what I can make out .. and then it sort of spins off into a general rant?
