No I do not think there is anything different. There is a real problem now in a 24 Hour News culture, of the media rushing to judgements. News should be reported as fact. When the media start blaming any group without facts, there is a real danger of getting it wrong, causing angry in the long term.

I have to agree, if you strife to give your audience fact NOW you are gonna cut some corners on fact checking. It seems strangely unacceptable for both news outfits and politicians to admit ignorance in any area, instead feeling the need for feeding the public with anything no matter how shallow, irrelevant or outright wrong.

Whether it was appropriate in the circumstances is up for debate - but the comments were about remembering child victims from various backgrounds. In the context of the Israel-Palestinian conflict she mentioned those in two areas from both sides of the conflict. You neglected to mention that and also took the opportunity to push a one sided view of the conflict.

I still believe it's wrong of her using Gaza in the same context of three jewish children and one jewish father that had been killed cold handed by a man claiming that he did it as a revenge for Palestinian Children.

You see, Israel - Palestine conflict claims lives of both
Israeli and Palestinian children, which is a tragedy.
But speaking about deliberate killing of children because they are children,
it is mostly Palestinian know how and what had happened in France
is just continuation of this "nice" tradition.
Just first cases I remember.
Ma'alot massacre

Dolphinarium discotheque suicide bombing
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolphin...uicide_bombing
Itamar massacre

Israeli school bus hit by Gaza missile

From that point of view, Ashton ( even if she wanted to be politcorrect )
better not mention Israel - Palestine conflict at all.

Apparently the mother of the shooter asked for the murderer to be buried in Algeria, but Algerian government refused.

And his father sued the French government for causing the death of his son...
