Well, as long as you keep our energy comin'!! (No, my dear americans we do not import more energy than we export... you'll have to wait longer for the collapse of german industry)

Btw, we also use pump hydro plants, but to store energy... (Pump up when theres "too much energy" like strong winds in the night, use falling water plant to recover energy when there is need, like no wind during the day)

Update:-

Quote:
The environment secretary is to meet water companies, farmers and wildlife groups amid fears that parts of Britain may face the worst drought since 1976.

Parts of south-east England, East Anglia and the east Midlands are among the worst affected areas.

Trevor Bishop, head of water resources at the Environment Agency (EA), says it is "planning for the worst".

Water restrictions could be introduced unless heavy and prolonged rainfall takes place before April, the EA warns.

Hi

I'm only 40mins away along the east Lancs road, yet were having some dry spells. The clouds look heavy with rain but on the whole pass us by-except at the weekends when it likes to rain

Having said that, it has been quite dry recently. It's only rained twice so far this week.

Interesting, but do they have one that shows variation from the average norm?

Hi Exorcist

Well that map was a % of Normal Precipitation.

There are other maps at their website that cover the Weekly, Monthly and 3Month time periods.

Ah, my bad, didn't make it big enough to read it properly.

Looks like a problem, but thats only three months. Have the water utilities threatened to raise the price yet?
They already have, here.

Anyone in Sweden or Finland who can attest to the lower than average precipitation up there? I trust those maps after winter is over or even spring. Seems like our winter has just kicked in late and its almost spring!

Water companies across southern and eastern England are to introduce hosepipe bans amid drought conditions.

Seven firms say they will impose water restrictions after two unusually dry winters left reservoirs, aquifers and rivers below normal levels.

Southern Water, South East Water, Thames Water, Anglian Water, Sutton and East Surrey, Veolia Central and Veolia South East are to enforce restrictions.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17340844

They expect the ban to be extended as far north as West Yorkshire and as far west as Shropshire & Somerset.

Its good thing to have very big fresh water source just few hundreds metres away. And that water source should last for several hundred thousand years or longer.
