Lauzun's Legion
Sometimes called the original French Foreign Legion, Lauzun's Legion as deployed in Rochambau's army consisted of Chasseurs a Pied, Hussars and Artillery. Within their ranks were individuals from at least nine European countries. Bu ordonnance, the language of command was German. By tradition the hussars swore in Hungarian.
At least one element of the Hussars was armed with lance but the majority were armed as hussars. They were the only French cavalry in the Americas.
During the Yorktown campaign they were posted in the Gloucester area to contain Tarelton's force
Raised for service overseas, the Legion came under the Ministry de la Marine which explains the anchor on the sabretache.

Decorations
How about Gen. Washington giving decorations out to 3 sgts. It was unheard of for the time 1782. And they have different uniforms on.
