Haiti has amended the results of its November elections to disqualify a government-backed candidate accused of fraud, and to set up a run-off between former first lady Mirlande Manigat and musician Michel 'Sweet Mickey' Martelly.

Bowing to international pressure, the country's provisional electoral council said Manigat and Martelly were the two top finishers of the chaotic 28 November vote, ahead of governing party candidate Jude Celestin who had been placed second in the preliminary count.
