Civil War RPG

Just wanted to post this here to try and get people interested in our game that is running at the moment.

If this is not considered an appropriate place then by all means move it to somewhere considered best.

The game is set in the civil war and people create a character that have the opportunity to go into government, the armed forces or into private enterprise.

We have quite a few slots open at the moment due to some regulars leaving including the Secretaries of War, Navy, Agriculture and others.

The Confederacy has not been declared as of yet and we are still early in our timeline. If interested please come and have a look.

Link right here....

War Between The States

If you do decide to join, please say that you found the link through ACG as it will give me confidence in your ability to be a vital part of the game. I myself am known as Secretary Baumer on the game so please come find me!

What is the time commitment involved in terms of how often per week do you need to check in? I will give the site a once over after work.

@ Twitter 3: Greetings to you! Regarding the time commitment involved it depends really on how much time you'd like to invest and what position your character is holding (which of course could range from being a high ranking government official - e.g. Secretary of War,... or a military commander - e.g. Company Commander,... or any civilian who's main target may be to open and run a successful business - e.g. Factory Manager, Farmer,...). I'd say at least once a week would be good though, especially if you join one of the RPG scenarios since they are usually modded once a week. We'd definitely be happy if you drop by and check out the game.

========

Some more information about "19th Century - War between the States"

The game is entirely run by volunteers and people being interested in the time of the Civil War - things are constantly in motion and always there are new features that are discussed and devised. We are definitely looking to make things interesting whether your character is a farmer, a politician, a ship captain, a factory owner, a soldier, a surgeon, a prospector, an engineer... and since we aim for the possibility to open up all positions for our players one can be everything from the President of the Union (after joining a successful party and winning the presidential elections), to commander of a military unit or the head of a flourishing company.

Our main target is to provide an authentic 19th century environment set in the time of the US Civil War but following an alternate timeline to make things more interesting. We want to enable our players to develop their own history, their own politics, their own version of the civil war - separate from the continuity of what happened in RL during that time (but still linked to it in certain ways - f.e. the uniforms, the level of technology that is available,...). So the bottom line is that there is no Abraham Lincoln, no Robert E. Lee, no Ulysses S. Grant - because it's up to our players to rise to those positions if they want to and to be confronted with all those decisions these men had to deal with - maybe they'll do better, maybe they'll do worse - only time will tell.

If this strikes your interest and if you are into role playing I hope you will drop by the forum and check out the Game Information thread in the public section, since it gives you an overview of everything that is planned and explains the sign up process as well for those who want to join. You'll also be able to peek at the current time line of the game (which is always a work in progress) - we are currently a few months before the outbreak of the war as we wanted to give our veteran members the chance to really experience the secession and be able to tell in character stories about this.

Official RP is going on all over the forum (moderated and unmoderated ones) - the US Government, the US Army and the US Navy is currently being build up, we've news coverage about IC events from both pro-northern and pro-southern papers, sound character history pages and more.

In any case let me hear your thoughts on all of this and what you think about our venture to make an alternate history game of such proportions and set in that historical period.

Thanks!
