On the flip side how would you like it if Congress banned wearing of Jeans?
Um Listey,it sounds like you don't know anything bout you're own country
...Jeans is a western clothing,England is a Western country.
English/British people wore Jeans in 1800's,why should the UK government banned Jeans for?
Burqa is Muslim clothing,England is a western country,do you see my point?
How bout banning the burqa in Islam territory, listey?

French parliament debates burqa ban
I hope the rest of Europe follows suit.

When I was stationed in Bahrain with the U.S. Navy, we were directed how to dress in deference and respect for local culture; my wife could only go in public in loose fitting close clothes that completely covered her arms and dresses had to be below the knees, while I could only wear slacks and collared shirts.
Should muslims should be restricted in what clothes to wear in Europe like we are in there territory? My opinion yes & it is right now..... One rule for one and another rule for the rest!
Go and check out shopping centers,Muslims have shops to by there religion clothes to wear, would there be shops in Islam that sells western clothing? I don't know I never been to the middle east, but would there be?

Not really. I was pointing out that its no right of the Government what a person wears or not, as long as they remain inside the laws of the country.
Oh, and just out of Curiosity, where does the UK Congress sit?

Syria is about 80% muslim yet they have banned Burqua's on university campuses. I believe I read a while ago the in Egypt the same idea was being seriously touted.
Sorry for injecting a few shades of gray into your black/white view.
I have no love for this garment but policing peoples dress code is a big brother society step to far.
I can already see people wearing variants off the banned garment that will cause anger and confusion. If a women is forced to wear any item of clothing against her will then the law should be there to protect them, but if its by choice I think not.
My only caveat to the above is wearing such items that it will impair the person from doing there job in a manner expected by their employers.

On the topic for governments should not dictated to others on clothing....Westerners visitors are grilled by the Islam governments with what not to wear and what to wear!
Although, I never visited an Islam country,
A member on here or another forum quoted he has been to an Islamic country and he'd receive this treatment.
The image I provided is for my first quote.

Now the police could have tried lifting them in the middle of several hundred angry people, which would have led to a Public order nightmare.
Or you can wait until they're all lone at stupid O'clock in the morning and kick down their door in a much more controlled manner.
