Angola NY train crash Dec.1867

Does anybody know if there is a list of people assumed to have been killed in the 'Angola Horror' train crash in the village of Angola NY back in 1867?

I am well aware that very few bodies were saved as most people in the rear two carriages were burned beyond recognition and I understand that the remains of many charred bodies were placed together in a couple of coffins.

I assume that many relatives, friends and colleagues must have come forward with names of people who were assumed to have travelled on the fateful train but who were never found. Does a list exist of all 'missing' people?

I ask the question as I am researching a part of my family and have every reason to think that a relative or someone connected with a relative of mine may have travelled on this train and I need to know if this person was listed someone as being missing.

If anyone has any information on this including as to where the remains were buried, I would be most interested. Was any book written about the accident?

Kind regards

Andrew

Angola Train accident in 1867

Hello,
Suggest contacting the folks at Kalmbach Publishing. They publish Trains magazine, the trade pub, and may be able to provide some suggestions or links for the information you are looking for. Also, see if there is anything on Wikipedia.
