Make mine a Winchester, preferably one with the King door feature.
And, not one cut-down like that. If I want to get a big, clumsy pistol I'll just get a Buntline... or my head examined, whichever comes first.
Being a loner, I would probably be a scout and mountain man. So I would look for a .50 Caliber Hawken. If I smell you first, you're a dead man, pilgrim.

Spoken like a true Texian. The Texas Navy did a lot to bring the revolver to the West, and the Texas Rangers' use of those pistols, and the development of the Walker Colt, makes them icons of early western "six shooters."

Because the West had a long run, it really depends on the time. You could go with:
the "Mountain Man West" (flintlock Kentucky rifles, riverboat pepperboxes),
the "Texas Revolution West" (Davy Crockett converted percussion rifle, Paterson Colt, muzzle-loading double-shotgun and the Walker),
the "Jesse James/Wild Bill West" (Shiloh, Spencer, Colt Army/Navy, cartridge conversions),
the "Lone Ranger West" (Peacemaker, Schofield, coach gun and Henry/Winchester), and
the "Wild Bunch West" (1897 pump shotgun, Mauser Broomhandle and other early automatic pistols).
There's something for everyone.

That looks very much like a CVA flintlock kit I built when I was a kid. Still have it - those are great guns, especially when you're a kid and think that 90 grains of FFF is a decent load for a .45 round ball. The smoke is wonderful (even if a bit wasteful).
