Bass, TM2, RK, Jose, GT...

Yes, even you, Heather - you may now begin one...

As each of you starts your own thread, I will delete your service specifics here - leaving the 'Sea Stories' and other interactions as they should.

Or... if any wish, I can break each out of here - all I need is a title for & from each concerned.

Well that is a dang fine start Heather. E 3 isn't general but still better than E 1. IIRC it toook me 6 months to get to E 3. Big bucks

Whalers

Specifically for Roadkiller but I'm sure others may be interested.

I was not in the Navy but served 5 great years in the Sea Cadets.

What I remember most (Mid 60's) was competing in races against other Cadet Units.............rowing around Sydney Harbor in 27 foot Whaling Boats,............. and I was stroke mind you.!!

These boats weighed an absolute ton and to store the boats in the shed required a scientist's mind to organise the pulleys and tackles as the ramp to the shed was on about a 30 degree angle.

But at the end of the day it was really great fun.............our T.S. (TS Warrego) won most of the events and you met a lot of great guys as well. Some of whom I still communicate with today.

My Dad was in the Navy during WW11, but that's another story.

Regards,

Any little tidbits that he may have passed on to you would be quite interesting to read about if you care to share them.

Indeed... I believe it would also be good if folks posted an individual thread for their parents/ immediate reli's if such information is available...

Though these Units Forums are generally for members, I don't see a major issue as long as they do not become overwhelming of the Community Members service threads.

Cheers, mates!

FTCS, as per the forums intent, you should post your own personal thread with that.

Thanx!
