R. Lee Ermey's new show
Is anybody watching R. Lee Ermey's new show Lock and Load on the History Channel? In it "Gunny" does the history of a particular weapon complete with live fire demonstrations! My favorite was tanks especially the WW1 tank. Great show but I wished that Mail Call was still on because he did all kinds of things on it. Weapons of course but vehicles, uniforms, equipment from all sorts of times and places.

I like R.Lee Ermey. He's quite a character. But the show on tanks had a lot of discrepancies.First of all the M5 was made out to be way more "deadly" than it was.Second, the show talked about the M4A1 Sherman, but showed an M4A3E8 w/76mm gun. Then,Ermey couldn't stop talking about how effective the M60 was in Vietnam(only AVLB's and M768's were there),while,of course, showing M48 footage.
But,it was great to see these well restored AFV's in action, firing their main guns.Especially the FT-17,Stuart and Hellcat.
The show on handguns was pretty good.It was funny to see Ermey almost knocked on his rear by the .44 Magnum.
Mail Call was a much better show.

Love the show. I found all 3 to be very good so far. I like how he gives a little history and then demos the items. I also like Mail Call (a classic IMO).

Mail Call was his best. There are already too many shows showcasing former servicemen firing large weapons. Notice there are never any women around? Freud is having a field day.

Now that was funny. It was if he wasn't expecting it to have such a kick.

R. Lee Ermey is awesome. Everytime I watch this show I wish I could have his job for just one day.

I also like the show but agree that mail call was better. The one thing I think is great about this new show is the super-slow motion shots they do of all the test-firings. You could really get a good impression of the difference between a wheelock and flinklock (i think it was the pistol show). Oh yeah, and that magnum thing was classic: not only did it knock him over, but it knocked the balistics gel off the table too!
