COD: why so lousy?
I bought COD 1 about a year ago because it was only $10. It's been great fun playing on line, but I don't seem to get any better and everyone else seems so much better.
I don't have any "cheats" on my system like aimbot or anything else. Should I try to figure out how to add them to stay competitive?
Does everyone else have them and that is why I'm so bad, could my pc system inferior, or do I just plain suk at this game?
I'm about ready to give it up and go back to Stormovik, but I've never been able to figure out how to get that in an online room.
Thanks for any comments.

The problem with the older games like COD1 is that the only people left playing are the drooling fanboys who have spent far far too long on it.
Same thing happened to BF2 before i quit.

I think that its good to have some of the older games still around to play when you get bored, but its older so its obviously going to be worse than the new ones

I wouldn't resort to using cheats, you get caught and you get perma banned from all servers

Yes, don't cheat. If you want to get better, and want to put the time into it, my suggestion would be to get involved with a clan or group that plays the game regularly. You can use teamspeak or ventrilo to talk while in game, and many players are more than glad to help others learn to get better at it. Getting involved with a specific group can make it more fun because you can make friends in the process if you find the right group of guys.

I agree. Getting into a clan is fun and will motivate you to be a better overall player.

Some people just suck no matter what. However, it also depends on the gameplay itself. I too suck at CoD, but I can rock the house in RTCW and MOH. It's just the way the MP is set up.
If you do go the way of cheats, only play on servers that allows them, otherwise you might as well just stick to SP for the rest of time. Also, if you still get pwnd with cheats, you know you truly suck and should just eat a bullet.

I play CoD 1 as well I used to be very good on my desktop computer, but now I play on my laptop with a touch pad and am not as good. Your computer might be the problem, try changing to lower settings for faster fps. By the way my in game name is Sparticus is red writing, hope to see you on the battle field.
P.S. Don't get cheats try using different combination's of weapons and feel what style is right for you.

Yes, same experience I had with BF2 and CoD 1 every time I peak around a corner I get shot by a bloody sniper on a clan server because they have memorized the levels and the shot angles so well from playing for a very long time.

I'm one of those people too. I don't have the time to do anything but play casually, so I don't improve, in general.
I still play COD1 from time to time, mainly because I can't afford to invest in the new hardware it would take to "get current". Mainly graphics card and so forth.
