I think it is actually him my grandfather went to see.
As it sais in the Wiki article Constantin Tanase was the "key figure in the revue style of theater in Romania."
And revue is a type of multi-act popular theatrical entertainment that combines music, dance and sketches.

In Russian one can use word "concert" about such a performance.
