Armchair Attacks! - Tournament #1 "The March Offensive"
Welcome to Armchair Attacks! We watch movies and read about war and warfare, we play games dealing with strategy and tactics, and we chat on the forums about all of the above. It's now time to take the next step, put on the boxing gloves, and participate in an entirely different sort of battle...
The March Offensive
Our first tournament, The March Offensive, is a single elimination tournament, with a starting field of 32 generals and leaders of men throughout history. It is up to you to cast your vote to help your man proceed to the next round. The rules are simple - votes = victory. Vote for the leader whom you believe was the better of two at their brand of warfare. Which was the best general? Did this Admiral command his ships better than his competitor commanded his infantry? Was this ancient general a better tactician than his contemporary opponent? Who would you rather have leading YOUR military? Back up your votes in the discussion for each match and bend others to your will.
At the end of each round, votes will be tallied, and the man with the most votes proceeds. BUT WAIT! This is warfare - and as we all know anything can happen once the lead starts flying (a general is shot off his horse by a lucky shot, the HQ is accidentally bombed by its own air force, or a disease strikes down a mighty general at the worst possible time). At the end of each round, the judges will roll a virtual set of dice - which may result in the downfall of the projected winner - sending his opponent into the next round! Think of this as snatching victory from the gaping jaws of defeat!
Over the next week or two [it is just a coincidence that March Madness is going on at the same time :)] we will be announcing new rounds of combat, and you can vote for your picks in each subsequent round. Watch as your hero fights his way to the final victory. At the end, only one will survive the The March Offensive!
