The most well-known Australian action of the Korean war, Kapyong involved the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment. The fighting at Kapyong blunted the Chinese advance during the 1951 Spring Offensive and prevented a Communist breakthrough on the United Nations central front. The 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment was awarded a United States Presidential citation for their part in the battle.
