The Cess Pit (!), an old fashioned communal lavatory. There’s evidence that this was two-storeys high, presumably, Servants would have been restricted to the lower rooms.

This cellar area houses the Ovens, which would have served the garrison building above. In contrast to the main Kitchens, this area was used solely to feed the troops.
