NewsAs Canada marks iconic battle, its history is being forgotten – OttawaCitizen.com As Canada marks the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, a new survey shows that 59 per cent of Canadians do not even recognize the name of the iconic First World War clash.
Students visit Vimy soldier’s grave; Locals at ceremony today – Owen Sound Sun Times At the military cemetery in Ecoivres, in northern France, a group of 45 students of Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute visited the grave of Lt. James Thompson Robb. It was part of a plan that began last fall as two history teachers at the school recruited researchers to learn more about the lives of former students of the school who saw action during the brief, bloody battle.
Private military museum finds new quarters and hopes to reopen July 4th – Stars & Stripes The centerpiece of the exhibit will, if all goes right, be a room with dioramas depicting scenes from different eras, including the courtyard of a 1945 German farmhouse with a stuffed rooster that crows and a ceramic pig.
